What this covers

This policy describes what Anima stores when you use animaread.com, and who else handles it. The rules for payment and refunds are in the terms of service. Anima does not offer refunds.

The account

Creating an account stores your name and email. A password, if you set one, is kept by the sign-in service and is not written into the library. If you sign in with Google, Anima receives the name and email Google shares for that sign-in. Accounts are hosted with Firebase, a Google service.

Books, voice, and pictures

An uploaded EPUB or a pasted text is stored with its title, author, and cover when the file has one. When you open a chapter, Anima also stores the reading plan, the spoken audio, and the pictures, so the chapter can play again without being made a second time.

The chapter text is sent to xAI so it can be planned and read aloud. A description of the picture is sent to Ideogram so it can be drawn. That material is sent to make the chapter. It is not used to build an advertising profile.

Credit and payment

Anima stores whether the $20 a month is active, the credit balance, and a record of each payment and each chapter charge. Card numbers are entered on Stripe’s checkout page. Anima keeps the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. It does not keep the full card number.

Payments are final. Anima does not offer refunds. If a payment is reversed, the reading credit on the account is set to zero. That record of the reversal is kept with the billing history.

Help

Need help opens your mail app with a message to jaihoon@animaread.com. The draft includes your name and the email on the account so a reply can find the right library. A message you send is kept like any other email.

What Anima does not do

Anima does not sell your account or your books. The site does not run advertising trackers.

On this device

This browser may keep a copy of a book so it opens faster. Deleting the account removes the books, pictures, voice, credit, and login from Anima’s storage. The copy in the browser remains until the site data for Anima is cleared on that device.

How long it is kept

The account, the books, and the credit stay while the account exists. Deleting the account removes them. Canceling the $20 a month does not delete them. Credit you already paid for, and books already on the shelf, stay until you spend the credit, delete the book, or delete the account.

Children

Anima is not for children under 13.
